BOARD EXPECTATIONS

Joining the board is a two year commitment for directors and a one year commitment for chairs. You can always, of course, stay on longer; each year you will be given the opportunity to stay on the board, change roles, or move onto other pursuits. Your responsibilities will vary based on your role/skills, but all board members are expected to:

  • Attend monthly meetings with the board
  • 3-4 months prior to event, this is subject to change to semi-monthly or weekly
  • Be responsive on Slack and email (Slack is our main communications platform)
  • Attend at least 80% of IDW-sponsored events & programming
  • Dedicate 4-8 hours a month outside of annual event prep (3-4 months prior to event, this is subject to increase to 5-10 hours/week)
  • Be proactive & eager to work in a team setting

Board members do not need to be designers but they should be passionate about the Indy design community. Previous volunteer team members have been writers, social media managers, project managers, PR specialists, small business owners, and more.
